How to Complete The Vanished Warder in Gothic Remake

If you're exploring the Old Camp in Gothic Remake, one of the key steps in the Casting Shadows quest for Diego is completing The Vanished Warder. This quest can be picked up from Sly near the gate, where he’ll ask you to find his missing friend, Nek. The task involves speaking to several characters and tracking down the lost warder. Here’s a breakdown of the major steps to help you complete the quest efficiently.

Tracking Down Nek

Once you’ve spoken to Sly to start the quest, he’ll direct you to Fletcher, a warder by the arena and your shack on the left side of the Old Camp. Fletcher will send you to Guy, a miner in the same area, who then refers you to Snaf, the chef to the left of the gates. From Snaf, you’ll learn that he sent Nek out to find hellcap mushrooms.

While speaking to these characters in order can give you more insight into the Old Camp and its inhabitants, it’s not strictly necessary to find Nek. In fact, if you run into any bugs or issues preventing you from speaking to Guy or Snaf about Nek, you can still complete the quest without rolling back your save.

Locating Nek's Corpse

To find Nek, follow these steps:

  • Head out the south gate of the Old Camp, which is located past the market area on the right side. Here, you’ll encounter Dexter, Torrez, and Baal Parvez.
  • Continue directly ahead from the south gate. You’ll soon come across a molerat cave. Be cautious of the molerats wandering around the area.
  • After defeating them, enter the cave. Inside, you’ll find Nek’s corpse on the ground, along with various loot such as an axe, hellcap mushrooms, and solanaceae.
  • Loot Nek’s body to collect his amulet.

Completing the Quest

Once you’ve obtained the amulet, return to Sly near the north gate and speak to him. He’ll ask for evidence of Nek’s death. You can either hand him the amulet or choose to lie and keep it for yourself. It’s recommended to give Sly the amulet so he can vouch for you with Diego.

Since Snaf sent Nek to gather ingredients, this is also the perfect time to complete related quests like The Forgotten Recipe and Snaf’s Recipe. Simply collect the nearby hellcap mushrooms and solanaceae to fulfill these side objectives.
