Galax has been around as long as I have—literally, since its founding in 1994. Its Nvidia graphics cards, often sold under the European KFA2 branding, have frequently tempted me with their budget-oriented price tags. However, recent rumors regarding Galax exiting the graphics card market caused significant concern among PC enthusiasts.

Addressing the Rumors of Galax Exiting the Graphics Card Market

Earlier today, reports surfaced suggesting the company was exiting the PC business. The original report from Wccftech relayed a statement, appearing to come from Galax, which indicated a massive shift in operations.

The statement noted: "Palit has assumed full control and operations of the Galax brand... Palit becomes solely responsible for all activities and commitments related to the brand." It further clarified the internal changes: "We emphasize that both are Nvidia-authorized partners, ensuring the legitimacy and continuity of our services. Following the closure of the previous organizational structure and the dismissal of its team, all management and operations will now be handled exclusively through Palit’s official channels."

While Wccftech claimed Galax had "left the PC market," the mention of "continuity of our services" suggested otherwise. It appears the Galax staff base may have been restructured, but the brand remains active under its parent company, Palit.

A New Era of Unified Management

To clear up any confusion regarding Galax exiting the graphics card market, Palit issued a direct clarification. The company emphasized that the brand is not going anywhere.

"GALAX is not ceasing operations. We remain fully committed to the development, production, and support of our high-performance hardware. Our product roadmap continues as planned, and our commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology to gamers and creators remains our top priority," Palit stated.

The recent internal transitions are described as part of a "pre-planned global initiative" designed to increase efficiency through brand management integration. This new, unified global management structure will be centralized at Palit HQ and will oversee several key brands:

  • Galax
  • KFA2
  • HOF (Hall of Fame)

While the dismissal of the previous team sounds like a definitive end to the old brand identity, the PC hardware industry often sees brands subsume others while maintaining their original goals—much like Corsair did with Scuf or Elgato.

Since Palit has owned Galax for a long time, much may remain unchanged behind closed doors. We should still see those affordable Galax and KFA2 GPUs in the coming months; the company hasn't pulled an EVGA on us just yet. Time will tell if these fully-Palit products maintain the same charm, but I certainly hope we still see unique designs like the super skinny RTX 5060 Ti.
