Disney Debuts New Avengers: Doomsday Trailer at CinemaCon 2026

MCU fans lucky enough to attend Disney's CinemaCon 2026 presentation were rewarded, as Kevin Feige and friends debuted a brand new trailer for Avengers: Doomsday. Most notably, this trailer is the first to feature Robert Downey, Jr.'s Doctor Doom, along with a host of X-Men, Avengers, and Fantastic Four characters. Marvel likely isn't releasing the trailer online just yet, but IGN was in the room to break down the footage for everyone else waiting at home.

The Avengers: Doomsday trailer opens with a striking shot of the Xavier Institute sign. The narration, presumably delivered by Downey as Doom, warns ominously: "Something is coming, something we might not be able to deter." Before this day is done, he declares, they shall divest with an unthinkable decision. Patrick Stewart's Professor X sees a bright light in the sky, followed immediately by a profile shot of Doom himself.

A New Alliance Forms

The footage quickly shifts to show Avengers Tower looking vastly different from its usual appearance. We witness several high-stakes meetings bringing disparate groups together:

  • The Fantastic Four meet with both the Avengers and the Thunderbolts.
  • Letitia Wright's Shuri connects with Tenoch Huerta's Namor.
  • James Marsden's Cyclops enters a room, signaling X-Men integration.
  • Chris Hemsworth's Thor confronts the gravity of the threat ahead.

Thor admits he has fought many allies who died facing threats far less terrifying than this new enemy. Simu Liu's Shang-Chi is seen fighting Channing Tatum's Gambit in the X-Mansion, while Wakandans and the FF share a meeting space. In a shocking transformation, Rebecca Romijn's Mystique turns into Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova. The sequence also shows Joseph Quinn's Johnny Storm holding Vanessa Kirby's Sue while Namor takes flight.

Thor delivers a rousing speech to unite the teams: "Put aside your petty squabbles. Presume nothing except this - if you return, we will return as brothers and sisters."

Doom's Power and Captain America's Return

The action intensifies as Thor leaps at Doom with Stormbreaker, only for Doom to effortlessly block the weapon. Thor laments that they will need a miracle to defeat Doom. Just then, a familiar voice calls out: "Hey pal," followed by Thor's shocked realization, "It's not possible."

Chris Evans' Steve Rogers appears on screen, looking long-haired and scraggly even more so than in Infinity War. He summons Mjolnir from Thor's hand, signaling his return to the battlefield. Again, it remains to be seen when Marvel Studios will release this trailer wide online for the general public. Fans might have to wait until The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters in late May for confirmation of dates. Fingers crossed the wait isn't that long.

Recent updates indicate that Doomsday has entered post-production, while its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, is now in preproduction. James Marsden also revealed he is delighted to finally be wearing a comics-accurate Cyclops suit.
