The Floor Is Lava In CoD: Black Ops 7’s New Zombies Map

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 players are in for an intense new experience with the arrival of the Kowakujo Zombies map in the Season 4 Reloaded update. The map takes players on a journey through a dramatic volcanic landscape, where the environment itself becomes a key obstacle. A cinematic trailer has already teased the map’s setting, with a menacing dragon and characters surrounded by lava, creating a tense and immersive atmosphere.

A New Setting in the Zombies Storyline

Kowakujo follows the events of the previous Zombies map, Totenreich, and continues the story of Takeo Masaki, a key character in the Black Ops series. This time, players find themselves in the Japanese castle that was once Takeo’s family home. The map is built around active volcanoes, with sections of the environment separated by lava pools. This design not only adds a visual spectacle but also introduces new gameplay challenges, as players must navigate carefully to avoid falling into the molten rock.

Lava has made appearances in previous Zombies maps, such as those in Black Ops 2, but Kowakujo takes the element to new levels. Players will need to be strategic in their movement, as the lava poses a real threat to survival. A gameplay clip shared by Treyarch gives a closer look at the map’s volcanic terrain, showing the rising ash clouds and the danger that lurks beneath the surface. It’s not just a setting — it’s a challenge that could determine whether players make it through the map alive.

New Features and Content

In addition to the unique environment, Kowakujo introduces a new supernatural Wonder Weapon known as the "hellish" GobbleGum. This weapon is expected to bring new mechanics and power to the Zombies mode, adding another layer of strategy for players. The map also features new enemies that will test players’ skills and adaptability.

Treyarch has also dedicated the map to Tom Kane, the longtime voice actor for Takeo Masaki, who passed away earlier this year. This tribute adds a meaningful layer to the map’s release, honoring Kane’s contributions to the Black Ops series.

The Season 4 Reloaded update will arrive on June 25 for both Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone. Alongside the Zombies content, the update will bring new weapons, additional multiplayer maps, special events, and limited-time game modes. Players can expect a variety of new experiences that will keep them engaged throughout the season.
