To celebrate May the Fourth, Star Wars Day in 2026, Epic Games is rolling out a massive collection of new Star Wars modes. This expansion marks the beginning of a dedicated Star Wars era for the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), bringing much of a galaxy far, far away directly into the battle royale ecosystem.
Previewing the New Star Wars Modes
Ahead of the official launch, Epic Games provided hands-on time with several upcoming maps. The lineup features a diverse range of gameplay experiences that showcase the creative potential of UEFN. During our preview, we encountered several distinct island types:
- A compelling Battlefront-style combat mode.
- A terrifying survival-horror experience where players are hunted by Darth Vader.
- A droid-themed tycoon map for those who prefer management gameplay.
A Massive Expansion for UEFN Creators
For a few years, Epic has been gradually integrating assets from various franchises—including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Squid Game, and The Walking Dead—into custom Fortnite islands. However, Star Wars represents the most significant property to join the ecosystem so far.
While creators have had access to these Star Wars assets for a short time, the public can expect a flood of new Star Wars modes starting May 1. Epic Games anticipates that there will be hundreds of themed islands available right from the start.
We won't presume to guess exactly what else is in store from UEFN's many developers, as there are likely plenty of surprises on the way. However, the previewed content gives us a great idea of the high-quality gameplay Epic believes will thrive with these new Star Wars modes.
