"Low quality, obvious AI-created slop is going to be a growing problem in every creative outlet," Newman stated. "We don't encourage using AI to be creative. We don't encourage using AI to create games for you. But we do acknowledge that it's a good learning tool and it's a good productivity tool. We'll be taking action to promote human creativity and push obviously AI-created slop off the main page."

While Newman intends to demote low-effort content, it remains unclear if AI-generated content will be removed entirely or simply relegated from the primary discovery feeds. This is a critical distinction for a platform that allows creators to publish their work as standalone games on Steam.

The Challenges of Moderation and Sustainability

The influx of automated content presents significant hurdles for the developers as they manage a growing user-generated hub. There are several risks facing the future of the platform:
