Netflix has officially announced that production has begun on its live-action Gundam film. This latest Gundam movie update confirms that filming is currently underway in Queensland, Australia.

Directed by Jim Mickle (Sweet Tooth, Cold in July), the film promises a brand-new story set during a lengthy space war. The plot follows rival mech pilots fighting on opposite sides of a decades-long conflict between Earth and its former space colonies.

The production aims to bring this defining franchise to life with an epic cinematic scale. According to Netflix, the movie will feature awe-inspiring battles and intimate human emotion that presents "Gundam like it’s been seen before."
