Horizon Steel Frontiers to Launch in First Half of 2027, According to NCSoft
The next entry in PlayStation's Horizon franchise, Horizon Steel Frontiers, is expected to launch in the first half of 2027, according to recent announcements from NCSoft. The publisher revealed this information in its latest Investor Relations PowerPoint presentation, where the game is listed as a key upcoming title in its pipeline. On a slide outlining future projects, Horizon Steel Frontiers is positioned prominently, with a planned release in early 2027.
This potential release date suggests that fans of the Horizon series may see the next installment as soon as one year from now. However, PlayStation and developer Guerrilla Games' other multiplayer project, Horizon Hunters Gathering, still lacks a confirmed release window. While Guerrilla Games continues to develop tactical co-op action for both PC and PlayStation 5, NCSoft is focusing on a mobile-first approach for Horizon Steel Frontiers.
A New Chapter in the Horizon Universe
Announced in November 2025, Horizon Steel Frontiers is set to be a multiplayer-centric experience that shifts focus from Aloy's story to the world of the Deadlands. Players will engage in cooperative and competitive gameplay, with the reveal video showcasing Monster Hunter-like action and combat mechanics. Although the game is designed primarily for mobile devices, it will also be available on PC through NCSoft's Purple platform.
The Horizon franchise has seen rapid expansion since its debut with Horizon Zero Dawn for the PS4 in 2017. The sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, launched in 2022, followed by Horizon: Call of the Mountain, a VR title, in 2023. In 2024, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and Lego Horizon Adventures brought the world of Horizon to new audiences. Horizon Hunters Gathering and Horizon Steel Frontiers are the latest additions to this growing roster of games.
