Learning how to find and kill Arc Turbines in Arc Raiders is essential for surviving the Riven Tide update. These new enemies are a true terror, spawning late in a round and forcing players to make a choice: fight them quickly or risk missing your exfil.
The Arc Turbine is dangerous due to its lightning strike projectiles that can zap you instantly. However, defeating them is the only way to secure the Turbine Compressor material. This resource is required for the Avian Alarm project and crafting new items like the Powered Descenderr.
Where to find Arc Turbines in Arc Raiders
The Arc Turbine is a late-spawning threat that typically appears during the 13–16 minute mark of a round. You can identify a spawning enemy by listening for a massive thunderclap and watching the sky for a descending figure. Because they do not spawn consistently, you should prepare to extract if no turbine appears by the 13-minute mark.
Sometimes, two Arc Turbines will spawn simultaneously, often near the Port Authority Building and Customs House. These enemies primarily appear in the northern part of the map along the shoreline. Look for them in these specific locations:
- Northeast: Near the Tidebreaker seawall.
- Northwest: Near Azzurro Beach and the hotel.
- North: Around the Port Authority Building.
- South: Just to the west of the Customs House.
When an Arc Turbine arrives, it will land and open up for a short period before taking off to relocate.
The best strategy for killing Arc Turbines
The Arc Turbine is significantly more challenging than enemies like the Rocketeer, Vaporizer, or Bombardier. To succeed, you must target its weak spot: the spinning yellow cylinders located at its core. This weakness is only exposed once the enemy has landed and opened up.
Method 1: Using Deadlines for close-range damage
The fastest way to take down an Arc Turbine is by planting Deadlines directly inside its core. If you can reach the interior, it should only take a few mines to destroy the enemy. You can purchase a Deadline daily from Apollo to stock up for these encounters.
However, this method is high-risk. Upon landing, the turbine drops several mines in the immediate area, making approach difficult. Additionally, the enemy does not stay stationary for long, so you must race against time to plant your explosives before it takes flight.
Method 2: Long-range precision strikes
If you prefer to keep your distance, you can use a Hullcracker or a sniper rifle to hit the core from afar. This is often a more viable approach if you are playing with a full squad of three. You can purchase a Hullcracker daily from Apollo to assist with this strategy.
Be warned that if you get too close while firing, the turbine will begin retaliating with lightning projectiles. If the enemy takes flight, do not attempt to shoot it while it is moving; it is heavily armored and will rain lightning down on your position. Instead, treat the fight like a boss encounter, waiting for the next landing phase to strike again.
While you can sometimes sneak up on an Arc Turbine from certain angles, always watch out for its perimeter mines. If you play your cards right, you can use a Deadline to surprise attack it and then hide in cover until it lands again.
