How to Get Armour in Gothic Remake

In Gothic Remake, one of the most intriguing aspects is starting off with no gear and being at the mercy of the world around you. Unlike most RPGs, you don’t even have a basic weapon at the beginning, which makes even the smallest creatures a threat. Acquiring armour is a crucial step in your journey, and this guide will walk you through the best ways to get it.

Your First Steps to Better Protection

The primary way to obtain armour in Gothic Remake is through faction progression or purchasing from vendors. Unlike weapons, which can sometimes be found through exploration, armour is usually tied to your advancement in one of the three main camps or available for purchase. At the start of the game, you're left with the basic Nameless Hero outfit, which offers no real protection. However, your first real upgrade comes in the form of the Digger's Light Trousers.

To get your hands on these, head to the Old Camp marketplace and speak to Fisk. He sells the Digger's Light Trousers for 313 ore. These trousers offer 10 edge and blunt protection, along with 5 fire resistance, making them a significant upgrade from your default clothing. If you're looking to make some quick cash, the Old Mine is a great place to start. Hunting, stealing, or mining can give you the ore needed to purchase this essential piece of armour.

For those who want a slightly better version of the same gear, Alberto in the Old Mine offers an upgraded Digger's Trousers for 324 ore. This version provides better stats and is a small but welcome improvement over the original.

If you're feeling adventurous, there's also a free way to get the Digger's Dress, which has the same stats as the Light Trousers. Simply head to the Free Mine, which is accessible through the New Camp on the western side of The Colony. Speak to Swiney, a digger near the entrance, and you'll be able to claim the dress. This is a great option if you're looking to save some ore or want to avoid paying for the trousers.

Faction Progression and Upgrades

After acquiring your initial armour, your next upgrade will likely come from your chosen faction. If you complete the Casting Shadows quest to join the Old Camp, you'll be rewarded with the Shadow's Armour. This can be further upgraded as you progress through the ranks, such as becoming a Warder.

Similarly, if you choose to align with the New Camp, you'll start with the Bandit's Dress, while joining the Swamp Camp will give you the Novice Robes. Each of these pieces of armour provides different stats and can be upgraded through faction merchants like Fisk as you advance.

Getting armour in Gothic Remake is a mix of exploration, faction progression, and smart purchases. Whether you're buying from Fisk, upgrading with Alberto, or claiming free gear from Swiney, there are multiple ways to improve your protection and survive the dangerous world of Gothic Remake.
