Taming the Iron Eagle in Crimson Desert is a high-stakes endeavor that, while less mechanically complex than taming the Phoenix, requires significantly more resources. Because this mechanical avian creature feeds exclusively on rare metals like Mercury or Platinum, you will need to gather specific materials and solve a localized puzzle to earn its trust.
Since using Platinum is the most efficient way to secure an immediate bond, this guide focuses on how to acquire the necessary recipe and where to find the summoning site to successfully tame the bird.
Requirements for Taming the Iron Eagle
To successfully complete the taming process, you cannot simply show up at the ruins; you must arrive prepared with specific items. You will need:
- 1x Platinum (Recommended) OR 20x Mercury
- The Sotdae of Bond item (required for all bird taming)
While Mercury is an option, using Platinum provides a massive +100 Trust boost instantly. However, obtaining Platinum requires following a specific crafting recipe found within the Crimson Desert.
How to Get the Platinum Recipe
The blueprint for creating Platinum can be found at the summit of the Great Gate of Urdavah. To find it, locate the NPC Tommaso and take the lift to the very top of the structure. Once you reach the peak, head left up the stairs into the room containing large tanks of green liquid. If you crouch near the bookcase on the right side of the entrance, you will find the recipe sitting on a low shelf.
The Platinum recipe requires the following ingredients:
- 1x Gold Bar
- 4x Brimstone
- 3x Mercury
- 2x Holy Water
While Gold Bars are relatively easy to obtain and Holy Water can be purchased at churches in Hernand or Senia, sourcing Brimstone and Mercury can be a challenge. A "cheap and nasty" way to acquire these is to travel to Scholastone. By reaching 100 Trust with the troll scholars there—which only costs about 10 basic hide materials—they may reward you with Mercury or Brimstone.
Once you have gathered your materials, visit a Witch Vendor, select "Craft Abyss Gear," and follow the process used for gold bars to craft your Platinum bar.
Solving the Hawkstone Ruins Summoning Puzzle
With your Platinum ready, head to the Hawkstone Ruins, located just north of the "A" in Deleysia at the far east of the Crimson Desert continent. To summon the bird, you must interpret the inscription on the central pillar:
"Step beyond the edge of darkness and grab the handle of dawn to awaken the slumbering steel. Offer the silver shards flowing through the Sotdae, and claim the Wings of Steel"
This riddle dictates your timing and actions. Follow these steps to complete the tame:
- Wait for 5:00 AM: You must interact with the dial located just left of the inscription at exactly 5:00 AM in-game time.
- Prepare the Offering: Select the Sotdae of Bond from your inventory and place it within the mechanism.
- Feed the Eagle: Add your prepared Platinum to the offering slot.
- The Taming Moment: Once the bird lands and consumes the metal, you will receive an immediate boost in Trust. Interact with the creature to "Take in" the Iron Eagle, officially unlocking it as your new pet.
