It's not confirmation of a Pragmata sequel, but Capcom has teased that its latest venture could have a future among its pantheon of iconic franchises after a tough development

Capcom is rapidly expanding its legendary roster of franchises, amassing them like Infinity Stones in a way that would make any publisher envious. While we don't have official confirmation of a Pragmata sequel yet, the game's recent performance is nothing short of a triumph. Despite significant development hurdles, the title successfully sold over one million copies in just two days.

Is a Pragmata sequel on the horizon?

Speaking at the Interactive Innovation Conference in Las Vegas this week, Rob Dyer, COO of Capcom USA, shared optimistic views on the franchise's future. According to reports via Game File and GamesRadar, Dyer sees the game as a foundational piece for their growing library.

"We’re to a point now where we’ve got another IP that Capcom—and god bless them, has an arsenal—that we can continue to go down," Dyer remarked. While this does not explicitly promise a Pragmata sequel, it suggests the developers are eager to explore the world further.

As much as players enjoyed the initial experience, many feel a follow-up could truly perfect the game's lofty ambitions. Whether a successor continues the story of Hugh and Diana or focuses on its unique hack n' shoot gameplay, the potential for growth is clear.

Overcoming years of development delays

The journey to launch was far from easy. Originally announced in 2020 with a planned 2022 release, multiple delays pushed the window all the way to 2026. However, Dyer maintains that the extra time spent on the project was "worth the effort" in the end.

This success comes amidst a period of unprecedented growth for the publisher, which has seen 12 straight years of expansion, fueled in part by PC performance. Capcom's recent track record includes several massive milestones:

  • Resident Evil Requiem: 7 million copies sold in just two months.
  • Monster Hunter Wilds: 10 million copies sold within a single month.
  • Upcoming Titles: The highly anticipated Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

With staples like Street Fighter and Dragon's Dogma also remaining strong pillars in their arsenal, Capcom is well-positioned to turn this new IP into a long-term success.
