Capcom has officially announced that Resident Evil Requiem hits 7 million sales milestone, marking a massive achievement for the survival horror franchise. To celebrate the news, director Koshi Nakanishi was treated to two massive, themed cakes by the development staff. Since its launch last month, the title has moved over 7 million copies, representing an increase of one million units since the official tally confirmed in mid-April.
Celebrating the Resident Evil Requiem 7 Million Sales Milestone
The game has been shattering records for the series since its release. At launch, it shifted a staggering 5 million copies in just five-days, making it the fastest-selling entry in the entire franchise history.
Director Koshi Nakanishi shared the celebration via his Instagram story, showcasing two towering cakes designed to honor the game's protagonists:
- The Leon Cake: Featuring black icing, blueberries, and raspberries, this cake included a biscuit-based topper of Leon S. Kennedy wielding a pistol alongside his signature hatchet.
- The Grace Ashcroft Cake: This version featured white frosting and a decoration of a zombie's hand reaching out from the second tier.
The cakes were adorned with celebratory messages, including "Welcome to 7m Leon!" and "Grace Congratulations on 7 million!"
What’s Next for Resident Evil Requiem?
Fans of Resident Evil Requiem have plenty to look forward to in the coming months. A mysterious content update is scheduled for next month, which players expect will introduce a new version of the fan-favorite The Mercenaries mode following recent music datamines.
While a full-blown story DLC is also confirmed to be in development, that project appears to be further off on the roadmap.
The massive Resident Evil Requiem sales milestone is well-deserved given the game's critical reception. The title earned a 9/10 from IGN, with reviewers noting that it "successfully splices two separate strains of survival horror together into the one highly infectious new mutation."
