How to Get the Scavenger Mount in Gothic Remake
For players looking to speed up their journey through the vast world of Gothic Remake, the Scavenger mount is an invaluable companion. While fast travel is available via camps, it’s limited in scope, making the Scavenger a practical choice for navigating between key locations. This guide will walk you through the process of acquiring and using this powerful steed.
Unlocking the Scavenger Mount
To unlock the Scavenger mount, you must complete the Beak Performance quest, which is given by Cohsel. This character is located to the west of the Old Camp. Before embarking on this task, it’s important to note that you’ll need at least 280 ore nuggets and six learning points. The route to Cohsel is straightforward:
- Exit the north gate of the Old Camp and turn left onto the path running south.
- At the crossroads with a sign, turn right onto the path descending into the delve.
- Follow the path through the delve, passing Cavalorn’s hut on the right.
- Ascend on the other side, turning left to spot Cohsel’s shack ahead.
Cohsel’s shack is easily identifiable due to the Scavenger mount outside and a tame wolf nearby. Speak to Cohsel repeatedly until he agrees to teach you how to ride the Scavenger.
Gathering the Necessary Materials
Once you’ve unlocked the riding skill, the next step is to collect the required materials for the saddle. Cohsel will ask for the following:
- 3 Wolf Pelts
- 2 Leather Strips
To obtain the Wolf Pelts, you’ll need the hunting skill. Head west up the valley from Cohsel’s shack to find Aidan, who can teach you how to skin animals for a fee of 250 ore and one learning point. Wolves are abundant in this area, making it easy to gather the necessary pelts.
For the Leather Strips, you have a couple of options. You can purchase them from blacksmiths in your camp or from Fisk in the southern cloth-covered market area of the Old Camp. If you already have some, you can skip this step.
Once you’ve gathered all the required items, return them to Cohsel. He’ll ask you to come back the next day, so head back to the Old Camp and rest in your hut. When you return the next day, Cohsel will give you a whistle to summon your Scavenger mount. Simply press F to ride it. However, keep in mind that the mount will get spooked by settlements and combat, so you’ll need to dismount before entering a camp.
