I've fully entered my raiding era in Final Fantasy 14. After finally clearing my first full Savage tier with the latest Arcadion raids, I am now deep in the throes of progging my first Ultimate—which currently involves a lot of "doing Looper" over and over again.

It has been a massive learning process, from mastering my own job's kit to understanding how every other role intersects during complex mechanics. While that knowledge hasn't helped much with this new Wordle-like for Final Fantasy 14 players, this daily logic game has officially dug its claws into me.

Mastering this Wordle-like for Final Fantasy 14

The game, known as Clock Spots, presents you with eight different jobs arranged in a circle. To complete the puzzle, you must satisfy specific criteria for each "clock spot." The challenge lies in the variety of information you need to recall about the MMORPG.

To succeed, you might need to identify:

  • Jobs released in a specific expansion
  • Healers capable of providing certain AOE heals
  • Specific training locations, such as Gridania, Ul'dah, or Limsa Lominsa
  • Jobs that utilize specific gear, like Aiming accessories

Testing Your Knowledge with "Blind Prog" Mode

The difficulty of the puzzles varies daily, using thematic names that provide a nod to raid tiers: Normal, Extreme, Savage, and Ultimate. If you aren't a walking FFXIV encyclopedia, the game does offer helpful tooltips you can hover over.

However, for those seeking a true challenge, there is a "blind prog" setting that turns those tooltips off entirely. This forces you to rely solely on your memory of the game's vast lore and mechanics.

As a dedicated fan of NYT Games—where playing Wordle and Connections is practically a daily ritual—finding a puzzle so specifically catered to my interests is pure joy. My performance has been inconsistent; while I managed a respectable two-to-five minute solve time on most days, I completely flubbed the April 23 puzzle with a measly 7:41 finish.

I can only hope that all this random knowledge—even if it's just remembering which jobs have single-target raid buffs—will eventually come in handy during my actual raids. One can hope, anyway.
