Ubisoft has laid out an ambitious roadmap for its future, promising to release new Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon games all by March 2029. During a recent financial results report, the publisher detailed plans to deliver a significantly more diversified and robust content pipeline throughout the 2027-28 and 2028-29 financial years.
A Major Push for Core Franchises
The upcoming release schedule focuses heavily on Ubisoft's most established intellectual properties. While the company continues to manage live service titles like Rainbow Six Siege, The Division 2, The Crew Motorfest, and For Honor, the primary focus is shifting back to major single-player and tactical experiences.
Key upcoming projects mentioned in the report include:
- Assassin's Creed Hexe: A witchcraft-inspired entry expected to launch sometime in 2027.
- New Far Cry Title: A highly anticipated follow-up, as the series has not seen a mainline release since Far Cry 6 debuted in 2021.
- Ghost Recon Reboot: The franchise's return to a mainline format following the 2019 release of Breakpoint.
Navigating Financial and Project Shifts
Despite these promises, Ubisoft’s journey toward 2029 is not without its hurdles. The company revealed that it has canceled seven projects and delayed six others within the last year. This restructuring comes after a difficult period for the publisher, which saw approximately 1,200 employees depart the company. As of March 2026, Ubisoft's total headcount stood at 16,590.
To bolster its turnaround efforts, Ubisoft is utilizing €1.16 billion (approximately $1.35 billion) in cash provided by the Chinese conglomerate Tencent. Interestingly, while the roadmap for Assassin's Creed and Far Cry is clear, there was no mention of the long-awaited Splinter Cell remake or the perpetually delayed Beyond Good and Evil 2.
Early Success with Black Flag Resynced
While looking toward the end of the decade, Ubisoft is finding immediate success with its recent remakes. The next major release on the horizon is Black Flag Resynced, scheduled for launch on July 9.
According to Ubisoft, the reveal for this title saw massive engagement within the Assassin's Creed community. Players have praised the game for its modernized presentation and expanded features while remaining faithful to the original source material. Pre-order momentum has been particularly high in China, marking one of the franchise's strongest early performances.
