Wargaming has officially announced that its highly anticipated spin-off, World of Tanks: Heat, is scheduled to launch on May 26. This new standalone tactical vehicle-shooter will be available as a free-to-play title across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Unlike the massive scale of the flagship title, World of Tanks: Heat focuses on providing a faster-paced, more intense take on armored warfare. The game is built from the ground up using Wargaming's new proprietary engine, which aims to deliver modern visuals and highly dynamic gameplay.

Fast-Paced Armored Combat in World of Tanks: Heat

The developer has emphasized that the game is optimized for a wide range of hardware configurations. PC players will be pleased to know that the title is designed to run on the Steam Deck, ensuring high-quality tactical combat is accessible even on handheld devices.

To provide variety and depth from day one, the launch version includes several key features:

  • Diverse Characters: Playable Agents, each with access to two unique vehicles.
  • Tactical Roles: Three distinct battlefield roles including Defender, Assault, and Marksman.
  • Customization: 15 different vehicles that can be modified via equipment upgrades.
  • Extensive Maps: Eight unique battlefields designed for varied combat scenarios.

PvP Modes and Alternative Timelines

World of Tanks: Heat deviates from historical accuracy by placing players in an alternative timeline set after World War 2. This setting allows for unique vehicle designs and fresh combat dynamics that differ from the core series.

Players can test their skills in four distinct PvP game modes. Whether you prefer objective-based play or pure attrition, you can jump into matches of Hardpoint, Control, Kill Confirmed, or Conquest.
