Xbox's Shiny New Logo Available Today as a Dynamic Background, And More

Xbox's shiny new logo is officially arriving on consoles today. The refreshed branding is rolling out as a dynamic background, alongside new profile backgrounds and gamer pics for Xbox users. Newly-installed Xbox boss Asha Sharma announced the rollout this morning, following the initial reveal of the design last month.

Embracing the Color of Xbox's Shiny New Logo

The updated branding features a more vibrant, colorful look that brings back the iconic neon green. This marks a departure from the flat white style used during the recent Xbox Series X/S era. Instead, the new design is much more reminiscent of the classic eras of the original Xbox and the highly popular Xbox 360.

The arrival of Xbox's shiny new logo represents a visual shift toward something more energetic. While some may see it as simple aesthetics, fans are viewing the change as a sign of more positive times ahead for the platform.

Rapid Changes Under Asha Sharma’s Leadership

Since her tenure began in late February, Sharma has implemented several significant changes across the division. Her leadership has focused on addressing player feedback and refining the ecosystem. Recent moves include:

  • Greenlighting long-requested features for current consoles.
  • Doubling down on the commitment to a next-gen Xbox console.
  • Ditching the division's previous Microsoft Gaming name.
  • Cutting the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
  • Removing new Call of Duty titles from the day-one subscription service.

Fixing the Fundamentals with Project Helix

Last month, Sharma and Xbox veteran Matt Booty—who now serves as her second in command—released a new mission statement titled "We Are Xbox." The document openly acknowledged that the company has "work to do," noting that players have been frustrated by higher service prices, a lack of new features, and a PC presence that "isn't strong enough."

The strategy aims to fix the fundamentals for both players and partners. This involves improving the current console generation while simultaneously pushing forward with plans for the next machine, codenamed Project Helix. While Microsoft has faced challenges with dwindling console sales and market share ceded to PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo, the start of Sharma's tenure seems to be rekindling the mojo lost in recent years.
