With the recent reveal of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, Ubisoft is finally sharing more details about what players can expect from this highly anticipated pirate simulator. While the title might be one of the industry's worst-kept secrets, the actual gameplay features being discussed suggest a much more customizable experience than the original.

New Accessibility Features in AC Black Flag Resynced

In a recent interview on the Ubisoft blog, Director of User Experience Jonathan Bedard and Game Designer Maksym Smolynets detailed several new accessibility options baked into the remake. These updates aim to make the high seas more navigable for everyone.

The developers have included standard modern additions such as:

  • Aim-assist options for smoother combat.
  • Adjustable difficulty settings.
  • Customizable text-size adjustments.
  • Specific controller configurations designed for left-handed gamers.

Beyond these staples, the remake introduces some "out there" features that allow players to fundamentally change how they interact with the ocean environment. Most notably, the game now includes an autopilot navigation mode for sailing the Jackdaw, making long-distance voyages much more manageable.

Becoming the King of the Ocean

The most talked-about feature is the ability to effectively become Aquaman through new underwater mechanics. Ubisoft has introduced options that allow players to bypass certain environmental hazards entirely. For instance, you can now enable a setting to breathe underwater forever, removing the constant pressure of managing oxygen levels while searching for treasure.

Furthermore, the developers are addressing one of the most stressful elements of the original game: shark attacks. In the original title, Edward Kenway was often at the mercy of sudden, predatory encounters. These were presented as Quick-Time Events (QTEs) that required precise button presses to avoid being eaten.

If you failed these sequences, your character would quickly become fish food. In AC Black Flag Resynied, players have the choice to disable these shark attacks entirely. Whether you want a high-stakes survival experience or a peaceful underwater exploration session, the new settings ensure the ocean is as friendly or as ferocious as you want it to be.
