Crimson Desert Gets Major Patch Designed for Players Who'd Made Pywel Too Peaceful Because They's Killed All the Enemies

Crimson Desert developer Pearl Abyss has dropped another major patch for the game, specifically targeting endgame players who found the world of Pywel far too quiet. As reported by IGN, some players complained that the vast open world had become "too peaceful" because they had effectively killed every enemy in sight.

Because enemies generally do not respawn and conquered camps do not repopulate, the world was losing its tension. This new update changes that dynamic by introducing the brand-new Rematch and Re-blockade features.

Bringing Combat Back to Crimson Desert

Pearl Abyss addressed the lack of activity directly in their announcement. “We understand that as more regions of the continent were liberated, opportunities for combat naturally became less frequent,” the studio stated.

To keep the sense of challenge alive, the developers are implementing these core systems as a foundation for future updates. They plan to progressively refine the content to craft an even deeper world. At launch of this patch, the Rematch feature applies to 69 different bosses and offers two distinct modes:

  • Reminisce: Fight the boss exactly as you first encountered them.
  • Resonate: The boss's stats scale up to match your current progression (provided your stats are higher than the original encounter).

To initiate a rematch, players can light their lantern at the site of a previous encounter to read a Memory Fragment. These fragments can be located via the World Map or minimap. This feature is available for characters including Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane. Note that while consumables used during a rematch are restored, no separate loot can be obtained from these battles.

The Re-blockade System: Choose Your Level of Chaos

The second major addition is the Re-blockade feature, which allows players to adjust how frequently enemies reappear at strongholds. This system is applied after loading screens, such as when saving, loading, or sleeping in a bed.

Players can customize the intensity of the conflict through three specific settings under Settings > Gameplay:

  1. Re-blockade Frequency: Stable: Re-blockades will not occur at all.
  2. Re-blockade Frequency: Conflict: The default setting where re-blockades occur intermittently.
  3. Re-blockade Frequency: War: Re-blockades will occur frequently for those seeking constant bloodshed.

During a re-blockade, 13 different factions will carry out operations across 23 forts and quarries. If you truly miss the grind of clearing out Karin Quarry, this setting makes it possible.

Community Reaction and Future Improvements

Early reactions from the Crimson Desert community have been overwhelmingly positive. One fan expressed their excitement after finishing the main story, stating, "After beating the main story and all the bosses, I'm hungry for s**t to beat up and kill lol."

Another player noted that the update makes side quests much more manageable: "Now I can actually tackle a bunch of remaining side quests without worrying about locking myself out of Sealed Abyss challenges or having to find them all first." Meanwhile, another player confirmed they are immediately setting their frequency to War to enjoy the game's top-tier combat.

Pearl Abyss has indicated that future plans include increasing the number of participating factions and targeted strongholds. They also intend to adjust enemy difficulty during re-blockades to "pose a much greater threat" and improve the overall Liberation and Re-blockade mechanics.

Additional Fixes and New Content

Beyond the combat overhauls, this patch introduces new legendary creatures that players can keep as Pets. The update also addresses several technical issues, including:

  • A fix for the issue preventing the summoning of legendary mounts.
  • A resolution to the bug causing comrade trust to reset following the previous patch.
