The new Devil May Cry Season 2 Trailer has arrived, and it looks like Dante is about to face his greatest challenge yet. The footage teases a high-stakes confrontation between the legendary demon hunter and his long-lost brother, Vergil.

Action, One-Liners, and Chaos in the New Trailer

Though less than 90 seconds long, the Devil May Cry Season 2 Trailer delivers plenty of intensity. The teaser promises to escalate the stakes established in the first season with several key elements:

  • Bombastic combat sequences.
  • A truly blood-pumping soundtrack.
  • Snappy one-liners, such as: "I can't even tell which of you is the hand and which is the asshole!"

Expanding the Lore with Adi Shankar

Showrunner Adi Shankar continues to experiment with canon and timelines, much like he did in the first season. The trailer features a glimpse of Vergil as a child, hinting at gripping flashbacks regarding his separation from Dante and what he has endured since.

We also see Vergil claiming that when Mundus, the Prince of Darkness, found him as a child, he "set him free." Despite the obvious animosity between the twins, they are both warned that they each have a part to play in a "coming reformation"β€”an alliance teased toward the end of the footage.

A Scale Comparable to The Dark Knight

Shankar intends for the series to grow significantly in scope. He has even compared the jump in scale to the difference between 2005’s Batman Begins and its 2008 sequel, The Dark Knight.

Shankar aims to avoid "comfort food" television, stating he is "allergic to formula." His mission for this upcoming chapter is to capture the unpredictable energy of a 2000s film franchise where the audience can’t predict the next turn.

Season 1 focused on Dante's conflict with the terrorist White Rabbit and an impending apocalypse, closing on the shock revelation that Vergil was alive. Fans won't have to wait long to see the fallout; Devil May Cry Season 2 launches on Netflix on May 12, 2026.
