Wilds Unknown Brings Toy Story to Lorcana: Exclusive Card Reveals

Disney Lorcana is officially expanding into the world of Pixar and Toy Story for the first time with its upcoming Wilds Unknown expansion set. We are thrilled to exclusively reveal six brand-new cards from this historic crossover, including the fan-favorite villain Sid Phillips. The lineup features Sid Phillips - Toy Surgeon, Alien - True Believer, The Claw, Babyhead - Leader of Sid's Toys, Hand-In-The-Box - Sid's Toy, and Bouncing Ducky - Sid's Toy. This expansion marks a monumental moment for the trading card game, bringing beloved characters to the playmat alongside new classifications designed specifically for these toys.

The set is scheduled to debut at local game stores on May 8, with a wider release following on May 15. Alongside the highly anticipated Toy Story cards, players can also expect to see cards from The Incredibles, further diversifying the franchise representation in the game. A key innovation in this set is the introduction of a new classification simply named "Toy." According to Levi Dodd, Senior Game Designer at Ravensburger for Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game, these cards interact dynamically with one another.

"Cards with the Toy classification in Wilds Unknown get better the more toys you have out," said Dodd. He noted that many of these toy cards feature unique tricks designed to play themselves or other cards for cheaper ink costs. The mechanics are versatile, allowing players to synergize toys with songs, cost reduction strategies, or simply by utilizing a swarm of low-cost glimmers. "Any way you play a card for 2 ink or less will work, so try out toys together!"

The Chaos and Charm of Sid Phillips

While Buzz Lightyear - On the Way has already been revealed, our exclusive look at this set highlights the darker side of Toy Story through Sid Phillips. The design team made the glimmers for Sid and his creations all Ruby glimmers to reflect his chaotic nature. This choice was deliberate, as Sid fits perfectly into the game's lore with abilities centered around banishing characters, even his own minions.

Dodd explained that while the banish mechanic was established early on, a second ability was added later to represent Sid's experimental side: gaining lore whenever a Toy is banished. This mechanic captures the essence of the character who constantly experiments with his creations. The glimmer cards for his toys focus on recycling friends back into the deck, mirroring how they repair each other in the movie.

The specific interactions and flavor text for these cards promise deep strategic play:

  • Sid Phillips - Toy Surgeon: A Ruby glimmer that banishes characters to generate lore.
  • Alien - True Believer & The Claw: A perfect thematic match for any Sid deck, looking great in both art and ability design.
  • Babyhead, Hand-In-The-Box, and Bouncing Ducky: All function as "Sid's Toy" cards that recycle themselves or others back into the player's deck.
