The Sotdae of Bond might be one of Crimson Desert's most uniquely named items, but it serves a vital purpose: it is essentially a large bird feeder. This tool allows players to tame the new bird pets introduced in the recent update. From common Sparrows to legendary Phoenixes, there is plenty to discover, provided you can unlock the Sotdae of Bond first.
The latest update also introduces new feline companions like the Abyss Heuklang and the Baltheon Armor set. Here is everything you need to know about acquiring your feeder and taming new feathered friends.
Unlocking the Sotdae of Bond
To obtain the Sotdae of Bond, you must complete the "Authorized Access" section of the Trembling Woods faction quest for the Pororin Forest Guardians. This specific quest is also your gateway to accessing the Florindale area.
To begin the process, head toward the village located southeast of the Hernand Highlands and allow yourself to be hit by sleep-darts three times. After this happens, a guardian named Arkin will appear, allowing you to initiate the quest. The process is relatively quick, so it shouldn't take much of your time.
If you have already completed this questline in the past, you can find the item sitting in your item storage at camp; simply move it to your inventory for use.
How to Tame Bird Pets in Crimson Desert
Once you have the feeder, you will need to provide bait to attract wildlife. Different food types attract different species of birds. To maximize your chances of seeing a wide variety of creatures, we recommend dumping multiple types of feed into the device at once.
Recommended food types include:
- Meat (non-bird)
- Fish (either alive or dead)
- Insects
- Oats
- Seeds
- Fruit
The feeder has a very large capacity and will hold its food between uses, making it easy to maintain.
The Taming Process Step-by-Step
To set up your station and begin the taming process, follow these instructions:
- Select the Sotdae of Bond in your inventory to equip it.
- Hold CTRL and press R (or use LB and Y on a controller) to place it in the world.
- Interact with the feeder to load up your chosen feed.
- Step back a short distance to watch the area.
Environment plays a massive role in which birds arrive. For instance, placing the feeder in a mountain region might attract an eagle or a sparrowhawk, whereas setting it up near a river could bring in crows and sparrows.
Managing Your New Bird Pets
Once a bird lands on the feeder, you must wait for it to feed until its Trust level reaches 100. Once this threshold is met—similar to how other pets function—you can approach the bird and select the Take In option to make it your pet.
While bird pets do not utilize equipment, they are still highly functional members of your party. They will loot corpses much like dogs and cats do, and if you stand still for a while, they will even land on your arm.
