Nintendo has officially confirmed the Splatoon Raiders release date, announcing that the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive will arrive this summer. The Splatoon spin-off is scheduled to launch on July 23, with a digital price tag of $49.99 via the Nintendo eShop.
Following Nintendo's recent decision to implement different pricing for Switch 2-exclusive digital and physical releases, players should expect the boxed version to be more expensive. The confirmed Splatoon Raiders release date aligns with a wave of upcoming summer titles, following the July 2 arrival of Rhythm Heaven Groove.
Splatoon Raiders Release Date and Gameplay Details
The latest trailer offers a deep dive into the game's character creator, which players encounter immediately upon meeting their hero, the Mechanic. The system allows for extensive customization, including body type, voice, hairstyle, eyebrows, and eye color.
Once your character is set, you will explore a massive open world. Footage shows a large, tank-like mech armed with colorful ink cannons, which appears to be controllable by members of the Deep Cut band—specifically Shiver, Frye, and Big Man.
As a Squidling, you retain your core abilities, such as painting your surroundings and utilizing various powerups like the ink roller. As you defeat large enemies and uncover treasure, you will gradually unlock more of the game's map.
Co-op Features and Nintendo's Upcoming Slate
While Nintendo describes Splatoon Raiders as "single-player focused," the experience is designed to be shared. The company has confirmed that up to three other players can join the action via both online and local co-op.
Nintendo addressed potential concerns regarding difficulty scaling in a recent social media message: "Don't worry about balance or difficulty, whether you team up with friends or go solo, it all evens out!"
To celebrate the launch, Nintendo will also release a triple pack of new Splatoon amiibo featuring the Deep Cut trio. This announcement arrives amid a flurry of recent leaks regarding Nintendo's long-term release plans, which include:
- A brand-new 3D Mario game slated for 2027.
- A remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time due this Christmas.
- A fresh Star Fox title arriving in the near future.
