Focus Entertainment has officially extended live support for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 into a third year. This announcement follows the game's massive-scale success, having reached an impressive 12 million players since its 2024 launch.
The Massive Success of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
The decision to extend support comes after recent updates were "very well received" by the community. In a community post, Focus Entertainment noted that this positive reception motivates them to maintain momentum throughout the third year of service.
The breakout success of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is a major milestone for both the publisher and developer Saber Interactive. Tim Willits, development chief at Saber Interactive, previously mentioned that the game's explosive sales changed everything for the studio.
This growth has been further bolstered by the game's recent addition to subscription services, including PlaySide Plus and Xbox Game Pass. While Space Marine 3 has already been announced, fans are still waiting for significant news regarding its development.
Roadmap Updates and Year 3 Content
The extension into Year 3 means that any content originally slated for Year 2 that hasn't launched will roll over and remain free for players. While Focus Entertainment teased exciting upcoming features, the community is particularly hoping for a new playable class.
Wargear Reworks and Customization
A major highlight of the updated Year 2 roadmap is a significant Wargear rework. This update will allow players to use class-specific items on different classes, such as equipping capes and iron halos on the Tactical class.
- Patch 13: Will introduce new capes and iron halos.
- Patch 14: Will add tabards and robes, including the full Bulwark robe.
- Lore Restrictions: Certain items remain restricted; for example, snipers will be unable to equip the iron halo.
The roadmap also includes the addition of the Salamanders Champion Pack 2.
New Challenges and Quality of Life Improvements
Patch 13 is set to bring several highly anticipated features, including the Ultragrind Ordeals as part of the Trials of Resolve. This new unlock system for items is designed to be a long-term grind with up to three difficulty tiers. Some challenges will be notoriously difficult, such as:
- Completing an operation 100 times.
- Slaying a Majoris or higher enemy with a single headshot on Absolute difficulty.
Additionally, players can look forward to the Perks Loadout feature, a requested quality-of-life (QoL) update that allows for up to three different loadouts to reduce menu navigation. The Battle Barge will also receive a solo-only Practice Arena, allowing players to test weapons and view total damage or DPS.
Patch 13 is scheduled to arrive by the end of June, with Patch 14 following by the end of September, marking the conclusion of the Year 2 support cycle.
