Bugbear has delivered a massive content injection for Wreckfest 2, marking its seventh significant update since entering Steam Early Access in March 2025. This latest patch brings much more than just mechanical refinements; it introduces new environments, gameplay modes, and a bizarre addition to the roster: two-and-a-half new cars added to Wreckfest 2.

New Vehicles and the "Half a Crusader"

The vehicle lineup has expanded with some unique additions that cater to both realism and pure chaos. Players can now get behind the wheel of:

  • Stahlwagen: A vehicle inspired by turn-of-the-century Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagons.
  • Valken: A nod to the classic ’90s Saab 900.
  • ‘Half a Crusader’: A novelty vehicle based on the game's Chevrolet Cavalier-adjacent Crusader, which has been literally chopped in half and is dragged along by its front wheels.

New Tracks and Suicide Race Mode

The update also expands the map with a new US-based location that features three distinct layouts: an oval, a traditional race circuit, and a short sprint course.

The oval track serves as the primary arena for the brand-new Suicide Race mode. In this high-octane format, half the field races clockwise while the other half travels anti-clockwise. This mode draws heavy inspiration from the 2004 classic Test Drive: Eve of Destruction, a title known for its unique racing variety.

Advanced Physics and Tuning Systems

Beyond new content, Update 7 focuses heavily on the core driving experience. Bugbear has implemented major improvements to visual damage and collision physics, ensuring that every wreck looks as impactful as it feels.

For those looking to optimize their performance, a comprehensive tuning system has arrived in Wreckfest 2 for the first time. Players can now fine-tune several mechanical aspects, including:

  • Steering and suspension
  • Brake sensitivity
  • Gearing and differential settings

These custom configurations can be saved as presets for quick access and are fully functional within multiplayer lobbies, allowing for a deeper level of competitive strategy.

While Wreckfest 2 is currently in Steam Early Access on PC, Bugbear has confirmed that the full version will eventually make its way to consoles once the game officially graduates from its early access period. A specific release date has yet to be announced.
