Andrew Garfield Calls Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Fan Theory 'Insane'

Former Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield has officially responded to the latest Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer fan theory. The actor recently shut down suggestions that he is secretly appearing in the upcoming film, specifically denying rumors regarding a digitally altered shot in the recent trailer.

Addressing the Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer Fan Theory

The footage for Marvel's first Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer included a specific moment that fans believe was digitally edited to hide certain characters. This tactic mirrors what Marvel previously did during the marketing for Spider-Man: No Way Home, when the returns of Garfield and Tobey Maguire were kept under wraps.

When asked to comment on the footage, Garfield described the situation as "insane" and "absolutely ludicrous." Speaking to Capital FM, he dismissed the idea that there is hidden footage waiting to be discovered in the frame.

"This feels like a reach to be honest, what do you mean there's room for more characters?" Garfield remarked. He noted that the composition is quite simple: "It's literally just space underneath Spider-Man. They're all headed to Spider-Man. There's room for more characters in every frame of the film, probably."

He continued by mocking the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer fan theory as "absolutely ludicrous conspiracy theory level attempts at investigative journalism." He even added a cheeky disclaimer: "You notice that I didn't say I wasn't in it though, right?"

Hidden Characters and Potential Spoilers

The scene in question occurs at the end of the trailer, showing Spider-Man dramatically leaping toward a crowd of ninjas. While it is a visually striking shot, fans have noticed that some ninjas appear to be targeting unseen targets rather than just Spidey.

This has led to intense speculation regarding which Marvel icons might be lurking in the shadows of the final cut. Some of the most discussed potential cameos include:

  • Mark Ruffalo's Hulk
  • Sadie Sink's mysterious new character

Charlie Cox Responds to Cameo Rumors

Garfield isn't the only Marvel star facing scrutiny over this trailer shot. Charlie Cox, the actor behind Daredevil, has also been widely rumored to appear in the film despite his previous denials.

During the BAFTA Games Awards, Cox addressed the footage while speaking to ITV News. He was quick to clarify that he is not part of the scene being discussed by fans.

"I'm not in it," Cox stated. "I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm not there. Unless they put me in after the fact using computer generated images, I'm not there."

Fans will have to wait until July 31 to see the truth when Spider-Man: Brand New Day officially arrives in theaters.
