Epic Games has officially confirmed that Fortnite refunds for D4vd cosmetics are available to players who submit a request through player support. This move comes amid growing community backlash regarding the presence of items related to the artist in the game's shop and locker.
The Controversy Surrounding David Anthony Burke
The decision follows serious allegations against 21-year-old U.S. singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke. Burke was recently charged with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
It is alleged that Burke killed Hernandez on or around April 23, 2025, after she threatened to report their relationship. Burke has pleaded not guilty to charges including first-degree murder, lewd and lascivious acts with a person under 14, and mutilating a dead body.
How to Secure Fortnite Refunds for D4vd Cosmetics
For some time, the Fortnite community has been calling on Epic Games to remove these specific items entirely from the game. The controversy centers on several emotes and tracks linked to the singer's music:
- Feel It emote
- Trophy Drop emote
- What Are You Waiting For Jam Track
- Locked and Loaded Jam Track
While players can currently request a refund via player support, Epic Games has promised a more streamlined process. A statement from the official Fortnite Status account confirmed that further changes are on the way to address these concerns.
Upcoming Changes and Self-Service Refunds
According to the official statement: "We hear the concerns. We have a bunch of changes we’re rolling out over time. The first one will be available on Tuesday April 28th, when anyone who purchased one of these items will be able to get an immediate self-service refund."
The update also noted that players can currently seek Fortnite refunds for D4vd cosmetics through player support in the interim. However, some players are now demanding that Epic remove items obtained through non-purchase methods, such as tournament placements.
While Epic has not yet confirmed if all D4vd content will be wiped from the game, their mention of "a bunch of changes" suggests more updates are coming to resolve the situation.
