Avengers: Endgame Re-Release Update

Marvel fans are getting a massive reason to head back to the cinema. During Disney’s CinemaCon 2026 presentation, co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed that Avengers: Endgame will return to theaters featuring brand-new footage. While the directors haven't yet specified exactly what this new content entails, the announcement has sent excitement through the community.

New Infinity Vision Certification for Marvel Films

This Avengers: Endgame re-release update is tied to a major technological rollout from Disney called Infinity Vision. This new certification is designed specifically for premium large format (PLF) theaters to help audiences identify the highest quality viewing environments.

According to Disney, Infinity Vision will highlight auditoriums that provide the most immersive cinematic experiences by focusing on three core pillars:

  • Maximum Scale: Utilizing the largest screens available for epic storytelling.
  • Laser Projection: Ensuring superior brightness and visual clarity.
  • Premium Audio: Implementing advanced sound formats for fully immersive audio.

The rollout begins with the September theatrical return of Avengers: Endgame. Following this, Disney plans to utilize these certified screens for Avengers: Doomsday in December, allowing fans to see the films on the grandest scale possible.

Avengers: Doomsday and IMAX Availability

While the upcoming slate looks promising, there is a notable scheduling conflict regarding future Marvel releases. Although the Avengers: Endgame re-release update promises high-end formats, Avengers: Doomsday will not receive an IMAX release in the United States.

This decision stems from a direct clash with the release of Dune: Part Three. Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated sci-fi sequel has secured exclusive access to IMAX screens during its initial three-week launch period.

Despite the IMAX restriction for the upcoming sequel, Marvel Studios did use CinemaCon to debut the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, giving fans their first official look at the next chapter of the saga.
